Quintrans turns a student hyperloop project into Indian linear motors for factories and ports
The Pune startup raised a $750K pre-seed round from Capital-A and has built a 100 m linear motor test track for port automation.

Quintrans, a Pune deep tech startup, began as a student hyperloop research team at MIT-WPU. It was founded in 2021 by Pranay Luniya, Kartik Kulkarni, Aniruddha Atigre and Prasanna Kadambi, and in December 2025 The Indian Express reported that it had raised a $750,000 pre-seed round from Capital-A, with SanchiConnect also involved.
Its product is a direct-drive linear motor. Instead of spinning like the motor in a fan, a linear motor pushes a load back and forth along a track using electromagnetism, without gears or belts to convert rotation into straight-line motion. Luniya told The Indian Express this cuts friction and power loss, and that the company is selling these systems for industrial automation, robotics and equipment manufacturing.
The company's website now shows a 100 m track built from track-based linear induction motors with its own control system, pitched as a demonstrator for automating container movement at ports. In 2023, Inc42 reported that the team had competed in the SpaceX Hyperloop pod competition and European Hyperloop Week, received about Rs 80 lakh to Rs 85 lakh in grants, and was building a 30 m pilot hyperloop setup in Pune. The pre-seed money is going to R&D, business development and hiring, according to The Indian Express.
