PierSight shows antenna testing for Varuna 2.0 as it builds a SAR plus AIS maritime constellation
The Ahmedabad spacetech company, co-founded by ex-ISRO engineer Gaurav Seth, is validating RF hardware for its first commercial satellite while planning a 32 satellite ocean surveillance network.

Ahmedabad based PierSight is advancing hardware work on Varuna 2.0, its first commercial Synthetic Aperture Radar plus Automatic Identification System satellite. IndiRFTech reported on 2 November 2026 that the company shared antenna testing updates for Varuna 2.0 and its Vidura programme inside an RF anechoic chamber, a controlled room used to measure gain, radiation patterns and related RF behaviour before antennas join larger systems. RuntimeBRT separately highlighted PierSight's structural qualification work on Varuna 2.0 and the long term plan for a 32 satellite maritime constellation.
PierSight was founded in 2023 by Gaurav Seth, a former ISRO engineer, and Vinit Bansal. Economic Times, Inc42 and YourStory reported a $6 million seed round in January 2024 co-led by Alpha Wave and Elevation Capital, with Techstars participating after an earlier All In Capital pre-seed. The company later said total funding reached about $8 million after strategic investors joined in 2025. YourStory's July 2025 profile said PierSight aims to put SAR imaging and AIS vessel tracking on the same satellite so ships that appear on radar but stay silent on AIS stand out as possible illegal activity.
The Hindu Business Line reported in August 2025 that PierSight will provide the SAR backbone for India's first earth observation public private partnership constellation under IN-SPACe, alongside partners such as Pixxel, SatSure and Dhruva Space. Company materials describe Varuna 2.0 use cases that include exclusive economic zone watch, maritime insurance, illegal fishing monitoring, oil spill detection and ship movement patterns. IndiRFTech cautioned that the latest antenna update did not publish frequencies or measured performance numbers.
For India's deeptech and security desk, PierSight sits in the thin set of domestic firms trying to sell persistent, all weather ocean intelligence rather than one off imagery. Dual sourcing for this note rests on IndiRFTech's November testing report plus earlier Economic Times, Inc42, YourStory and Hindu Business Line coverage of funding, product design and the EO PPP role. Runtime's post is treated as a discovery lead with a link, not as a substitute for those outlets.
