Jedlik Motors is building an enclosed electric two-wheeler with crab-walk steering
The Chennai startup's e-POD prototype targets a June 2027 launch at about Rs 2.5 lakh, with a battery subscription option.

Jedlik Motors, a Chennai EV startup, is developing the e-POD, a fully enclosed electric two-wheeler meant to give city commuters protection from weather with the size and agility of a scooter. Founder and CEO Raguram SK told Entrackr that the vehicle is planned with air conditioning, push-back seats, an infotainment system and about 600 litres of boot space, plus crab-walking steering for tight turns.
The company is at the MVP stage with a working prototype and has one patent granted and another published, Entrackr reported. It is developing its own motors, controllers and steer-by-wire systems, designs 90 to 95% of its components in house, assembles in Chennai and is working on autonomous driving features. Battery cells come from Taiwan or China. Startuppedia reported that the company was founded in 2023 by Raguram SK with co-founders Muthuram B and Nishanthraj GV, and that the design includes an airbag system.
Jedlik is targeting an on-road price of about Rs 2.5 lakh, or about Rs 1.5 lakh with a battery subscription of around Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 a month, and plans a Bengaluru pilot ahead of a launch by June 2027, Entrackr reported. It has about 10 people, has received about Rs 26 lakh in government grants and Rs 47 lakh in angel money, and is looking to raise Rs 7 Cr in a pre-seed round.
