The National Stock Exchange reported consolidated net profit of Rs 2,578 crore for Q2 FY27, up 23% from about Rs 2,098 crore a year earlier, in its first quarterly results since listing in September 2026. Business Line and Business Standard both carried the figure. Revenue from operations rose 10.6% year on year to Rs 4,066.8 crore, while total income rose about 9% to Rs 4,554 crore.

Transaction charges, still the largest revenue line, rose 9% year on year to Rs 3,035 crore on stronger cash market and equity options activity. Cash market average daily traded volume was about Rs 1.18 lakh crore, up 24% year on year, Business Line reported. Equity options premium turnover rose 3% to Rs 47,977 crore. Sequentially, though, transaction charge revenue fell 16% from Rs 3,623 crore in the June quarter and net profit fell about 17%.

Total expenditure fell sharply year on year because the year ago quarter included a large one time SEBI related settlement provision. Management told the post earnings call that, excluding that provision, expenses would have risen about 10%. Listing services income nearly doubled sequentially to Rs 150 crore, Business Standard noted, and data centre and connectivity charges also rose.

For India's digital markets stack, the print matters beyond one exchange ticker. NSE is the clearing and matching layer for retail demat activity, UPI linked broker flows and institutional trading. A cash market that is growing faster than derivatives fees suggests the post listing story is still tied to how SEBI margin and auction rule changes reshape day to day volume, not only to IPO headlines.
