Provision Labs, the physical AI venture started by Pronto founder Anjali Sardana, has acquired Basilisk Industries, a Mumbai-based hardware startup, for an undisclosed amount. Sardana announced the deal in a LinkedIn post on November 2, according to Inc42 and Moneycontrol.

Basilisk was founded in 2023 by Shourya Watwani and worked on perception technology, the sensors and software that help machines make sense of what is around them. Watwani joins Provision as head of hardware, where he will lead hardware development and work on the company's in-house post-processing models, the reports said.

The team has already been busy. Sardana said that within weeks of joining, Watwani and his colleagues had built a metric 3D hand tracking model, redesigned Provision's perception hardware and produced a first version of a lightweight tactile glove, a wearable that records touch data that cameras alone cannot capture, Moneycontrol reported.

Provision Labs, headquartered in San Francisco, describes itself as a data, evaluation and deployment layer for physical AI, meaning AI that has to see and handle objects in the real world, such as robots. It counts Lachy Groom, General Catalyst, Bain Capital Ventures and Glade Brook Capital among its backers, and Inc42 said it is hiring researchers and engineers in San Francisco, Toronto and Bengaluru for computer vision, tactile data, environment reconstruction and hardware roles.

The deal keeps attention on the link with Pronto, which Sardana still runs. Pronto's opt-in Verified programme records household service sessions for AI training, which earlier drew questions about consent and privacy inside customers' homes. Moneycontrol noted that the two companies have not publicly detailed the extent of any data sharing between them. In the same post, Sardana said Pronto bookings hit an all-time high over the previous two months.
