## At a glance

- Company: Fibe and Hygge Energy
- What it does: Digital loans for rooftop solar embedded in a peer to peer solar energy trading marketplace
- Latest: Partnership to finance rooftop solar through Hygge's marketplace
- Date: 2026-10-27

Digital consumer lender Fibe has partnered with Hygge Energy Inc., a Canadian fintech for cleantech company, to connect loan financing with Hygge's digital rooftop solar platform, the two companies announced on October 27, according to Saur Energy and Elets BFSI. The aim is to make it simpler for households to borrow for a rooftop solar system and to push uptake of the central government's PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the subsidy scheme for residential rooftop solar.

Hygge already runs a marketplace in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where people who generate rooftop solar power can sell surplus electricity directly to other consumers, which improves the economics of each installation. Renewable Watch reported that Hygge signed a memorandum of understanding with Atria Renewable in March 2026 to support rooftop solar deployment and peer to peer trading in the city. With that trading layer in place, Hygge is now adding financing: customers who look at solar options on its platform will be connected digitally with installers and with Fibe's credit offers, so the purchase and the loan move through one flow rather than separate paper processes.

For Fibe, which lends to young, digitally active and middle income borrowers, rooftop solar sits alongside impact loans for healthcare and education, digital fixed deposits, loans against mutual funds and longer tenure personal loans. Fibe MD and Group CEO Akshay Mehrotra said combining Hygge's energy marketplace with Fibe's lending should simplify the financing journey and support wider clean energy adoption. Hygge founder and CEO Prateek Saxena called it the company's first partnership with a major Indian digital consumer lender and said it is meant to demonstrate asset tokenisation and loan financing together.

The companies have not disclosed the size of the financing pool, interest rates, loan tenures or a disbursal timeline, as GreenEarth News noted. Those details will decide whether the product works for the target customer, because PM Surya Ghar subsidies arrive after installation and the household has to fund the system first. Entrackr listed the tie-up in its weekly funding and deals report for October 26 to 31.
