## At a glance

- Company: Boson Whitewater
- What it does: Decentralised treatment that turns STP water into potable quality water
- Based in: Bengaluru
- Latest: 65 crore litres of STP water recovered
- Date: 2025-12-05
- Founders: Vikas Brahmavar, Gowthaman Desingh

Boson Whitewater, a Bengaluru water startup co-founded by Vikas Brahmavar and Gowthaman Desingh, takes water from sewage treatment plants in apartments and commercial buildings and treats it to potable quality. The Hindu reported that the water passes through 11 stages of treatment, and that one installation at a large Bengaluru mall recovers 100,000 litres a day for central cooling.

NITI Aayog's Frontier Tech hub reports that the AI and IoT monitored system uses aluminosilicate and manganese dioxide filter media, oxidation dosing without chlorine and a high-recovery membrane that filters down to 0.001 microns and recovers over 75% of water in the first pass. It credits Boson installations with recovering more than 65 crore litres and avoiding more than 55 lakh tanker trips. The founders' survey of 200 apartment complexes found only 20% of treated water was reused, NITI reported.

In November 2024, The New Indian Express reported that Boson and Biome Environmental Trust had launched India's first indirect potable water reuse project in Devanahalli, which blends treated water with rainwater in lakes, recharges the aquifer and then treats it again, supplying about 6.4 lakh litres a day to around 45,000 residents. gen.E featured the company in a video this month.
